It wasn't until recently that we gave Jonah a fork to start eating with. With Cairo it took a while for her to be able to use one. In fact, she still isn't very good about it. She spent most of the time chasing after the food and every time she tried to stab it, it would slip away again. In the end, she would use her hand to put the food on the fork and then use the fork to put the food in her mouth. Jonah, on the other hand, took his fork, stabbed his food, and put it into his mouth on the first try. Once in a while an item of food will slip around on his plate a little, but the majority of the time he gets it spot on. At this point, I think that Jonah is better at using his fork than Cairo is. Now, the spoon is another deal. Jonah tries to stab his food with his spoon and, thus far, that hasn't been very successful.
Oh, and did I mention that Jonah has this obsession with stuffing his face full of the food he likes. He packs his cheeks full of the food like a little chipmunk, then reaches for more. Yes it makes me nervous when he does this, but he manages pretty well. We try to slow him down whenever possible.
