Summertime

Once again June has arrived and summer break has begun.  The yearly migration up north to Arcata has been completed, round after round of celebrations have concluded, and now we are just enjoying all summer has to offer.

For one reason or another when we are up here in the summer we have had a hard time getting our days started.  We use up so much energy trying to get some extra sleep or trying to sleep in that in the end it ends up being 11 am before we were up, dressed, fed and ready to go... and by that time, it was time to eat again and take a nap.  This summer, I decided a 6 am wake up call was needed during the "work week."  We can sleep in until 7 am on the weekend.  :o)  So far, so good.

We are making the most of our summer.  We've spent time out in the yard gardening, played with toys, gone out for walks, and visited with friends.  It's only been two weeks, but we've managed to pack in a lot of relaxation and fun.  Cairo loves it here and Jonah has quickly adjusted.

Cairo trying on Daddy's boots-

Jonah helping Daddy unload rocks from the wheelbarrow-

You might not want to, but you should always wear your ear protection-

Jonah likes making messes.  I thought that he was going to play in the dog's water dish, instead he dumped it everywhere before I would stop him.  Thanks.

... and, yet, another mess-

Using the limited solar energy and wind power to dry Jonah's diapers.

The tools that often litter the yard-

Relaxing dogs-

Cairo playing on her new playset-

Jonah has been using everything as a walker.  In this instance, Cairo's baby doll stroller was his choice-

Kids just looking cute.  These are the faces I enjoy seeing each and every day.

Enjoying a walk and picnic at the marsh with Katie and Lili-

Cairo enjoyed eating her lunch in Jonah's stroller-

Jonah, on the other hand, kept trying to enjoy a lunch of small rocks.  As soon as I would set him down, he would crouch down, grab a rock, and try and get it into his mouth.  Thank goodness for a quick mama and a sister who likes to tattle.

After a long summer day, we are already for a nice night's rest.  Buns up!-
