Spanish

These days Cairo thinks she can speak in Spanish.  It probably has something to do with watching Dora the Explorer.  Cairo can count to three in Spanish (well almost)-

Cairo: "Cuno, dos, tres."
Mommy: "Cairo, it's uno. Oooooooo- no"
Cairo: "Cuno."
Mommy: "OOOOOOOO-No."
Cairo: "Cuno."

I give up.

She can also say, "Hola, amigos."  She definitely got this from Dora.  Lately, she has been getting pretty confident in her bilingual ability.  She will make up some babble and say, "That means balloon in Spanish" or "That means I want something to eat in Spanish."  The other day I was talking about French with someone and Cairo informed me that, apparently, she knows that, too.  See- "Cuno, dos, tres."

This morning (while I was getting a rare day to sleep in... until 7am), Erik was giving Cairo and Jonah some breakfast.  Jonah was babbling and talking up a storm to Cairo, mostly in baby gibberish.  Cairo looked at Erik and told him, "Tell Jonah to stop talking in baby Spanish. When I was little I used to use Baby Spanish, but now I'm a big girl and use Big Girl Spanish!"  So it appears Jonah knows Spanish, too.  Well, I guess I better get myself a tutor because I have a hard time understanding their "Spanish."
