Nana and Papa come to visit!

After owning the house for almost 4 years now, we finally got my Nana and Papa up for a visit. My mom and dad picked them up and drove them up here for 5 days of fun and 5 days of chaos with Cairo and Jonah. We've done a lot to the house since we moved in and there is still a lot more we plan to do. Now my grandparents have an idea of what we've been working so hard on and what our future plans are. They also got another chance to see Cairo and Jonah who develop by leaps and bounds every month. Needless to say, Cairo was VERY excited to see them. She was ready to show off her house, toys, and new tricks to anyone who would listen.

To pass the time, we went on a day trip to Fern Canyon. It is a beautiful canyon carved out by a small stream with ferns growing up the very straight sides. It almost seems as though you are in a different world. When my mom suggested visiting, she forgot about the eight mile dirt road you have to take to get to it, but we made the best of it. The weather was great and the scenery was better! We strolled a little ways into the canyon and Cairo got to splash in the stream with her rain boots. What fun!

Erik and I have been working toward getting the house painted this summer. We had hoped to have it all painted before everyone came to visit, but with a new baby, there have been a lot of delays. So, luck would have it, we were able to start the painting the day my family arrived. We hadn't planned on having anyone help out, but my Papa likes to keep busy and help out and my dad likes to keep up. So, my dad and papa went to work helping Erik paint. They did an amazing job and enabled us to get a coat of paint on the majority of the house. Thanks Dad and Papa!

Done!... well, maybe not in this picture, but it is now.
Overall, we had a great visit. I love spending time with my grandparents and it was great sharing my home with them. The drive was long and I appreciate them making the long trek up here for me.
