The Apple Farm

This morning we awoke to cloud covered skies and wet pavement. Yup, we finally received some much needed rain. Today, we were planning on getting an early start to the country to go pick apples and pumpkins. The chilly air and wet surroundings kept us in until about 11. Once things dried out a little my parents, Erik, Cairo, and I went to Riley's Farm. This place has quite the set-up. We went through the pumpkin patch and picked the perfect pumpkin (this was especially fun because we were surrounded by low clouds and it was misty... a fun autumn atmosphere). Next, we ate a BBQ lunch in an old barn and listened to bluegrass band performing. Cairo took this time to take a little nap. She had been all smiles and coos up until then and she must have worn herself out.

After lunch, we went to the apple orchard to pick some apples. There were not many apples left by the time we got there, but we managed to get a basket full. Cairo really seemed to enjoy the orchard, though. She was smiling and really talking a lot. She also spent a lot of time taking in her surroundings... and sucking on her baby carrier.

So far, Cairo has not started to teeth (thank goodness), but she is really starting to drool. She loves to put material of any type in her mouth... whether it is her sleeve, blanket, daddy's shoulder, carpet, baby carrier, etc. Cairo has taken sucking on her hands to the next level. Now, she opens her mouth and licks her fingers as she is wiggling them. This pretty much guarantees us slimy hands and slimy kisses, not to mention a soggy shirt!

In the car on the way home.

Stripes match stripes, right? We layered Cairo's clothes so she wouldn't get a chill... another fashion statement.
