Halloween

Cairo's first Halloween has been fun. She wore a very soft and very cute frog outfit. It was a little warm today, so we were constantly taking her costume on and off. To this point, Cairo has been very tolerant of everything we have dressed her in... including sunglasses, hats, leg warmers, socks on her hands, etc. She seemed to enjoy her costume- especially the pieces she could get into her mouth.

Cairo went out and saw her daddy at work and met his boss wearing her cute costume. She also went to visit the Bowens next door; MeMe Debbie and the Musser, Marshall, Renden, and Feinner clan; Grandma Joy and Elenor (my old babysitter... a brave woman who was able to handle me at 3 months when I hated everyone but my mama); Uncle Tab; and Auntie Brenda and the Burwell and Ciccione #2 clan. All in all, a lot of people. By the time we made our last stop at Aunt Brenda's, Cairo was fast asleep in her carseat. She missed the AWESOME haunted house my cousin Tyler (and family) put together.

What does a baby get when trick-or-treating? Enfamil formula, of course! Her favorite treat... and, coincidentally, everywhere we went Cairo was given formula... hmmmmm.....

Once home, she woke up a little and her Auntie Heather got to enjoy her,she talked on Skype to G&G Dedini and Uncle Nick, Grandma Biggle took her to see neighbors, and one of my oldest friends, Dominique, came over with her son Vincent (who was dressed like a skunk!) It is amazing that as I am writing this, she is STILL awake. I am hoping that she will sleep through the night... something she hasn't been doing well with lately.

Cairo is Cracking Up.

Cairo thinks that it is the funniest thing when her grandma Diane shakes her head back and forth. Here she is getting cheered up after getting three shots at the doctor today.

Cairo's official stats today were 14 lbs. 3.5 oz. with a diaper on, 24.5 inches tall and 42 cm around the noggin'. She is now in the 50th to 75th percentile for her age in those stats. Way to grow Cairo.

A day at the Aboretum

Cairo and I spent the afternoon at the arboretum.
Here is Cairo at the arboretum.

Here is Cairo by the pond in the tropical forest.

Here is Cairo by the waterfall.

This is Cairo and I taking a break for a snack on a bench. It is hard work touring the arboretum.

Here is Cairo meeting one of the peacocks. No Cairo you can't touch it.

The Apple Farm

This morning we awoke to cloud covered skies and wet pavement. Yup, we finally received some much needed rain. Today, we were planning on getting an early start to the country to go pick apples and pumpkins. The chilly air and wet surroundings kept us in until about 11. Once things dried out a little my parents, Erik, Cairo, and I went to Riley's Farm. This place has quite the set-up. We went through the pumpkin patch and picked the perfect pumpkin (this was especially fun because we were surrounded by low clouds and it was misty... a fun autumn atmosphere). Next, we ate a BBQ lunch in an old barn and listened to bluegrass band performing. Cairo took this time to take a little nap. She had been all smiles and coos up until then and she must have worn herself out.

After lunch, we went to the apple orchard to pick some apples. There were not many apples left by the time we got there, but we managed to get a basket full. Cairo really seemed to enjoy the orchard, though. She was smiling and really talking a lot. She also spent a lot of time taking in her surroundings... and sucking on her baby carrier.

So far, Cairo has not started to teeth (thank goodness), but she is really starting to drool. She loves to put material of any type in her mouth... whether it is her sleeve, blanket, daddy's shoulder, carpet, baby carrier, etc. Cairo has taken sucking on her hands to the next level. Now, she opens her mouth and licks her fingers as she is wiggling them. This pretty much guarantees us slimy hands and slimy kisses, not to mention a soggy shirt!

In the car on the way home.

Stripes match stripes, right? We layered Cairo's clothes so she wouldn't get a chill... another fashion statement.

New Experiences in Cuisine

Cairo decided that she wanted to try some rice cereal yesterday. It was a fun experience for all and she actually managed to swallow most of it. The rest of it went on her face.

Cairo found out that you can make even better bubbles with cereal than with milk.

Cairo Sleeping

Cairo likes her naps. She especially likes to sleep on people but if she is really tired she can fall asleep anywhere. She fell asleep in her swing while we were making dinner.

Here Cairo and I are taking a snooze together Saturday afternoon.

Growing Big and Strong

A busy Sunday

This past Sunday while Erik was surfing, Cairo, my mom, dad, and I went to Disneyland for a fun day out. Last time we were there, Cairo went on the Pirates of the Caribbean, her first ride ever. This time she went on Pirates, followed by The Jungle Cruise, and It's a Small World. Cairo didn't enjoy all the rides as much as I was hoping. It's a Small World was a little too loud and Pirates ended up being a little too long for a hungry baby.

While we were at Disneyland, Grandma Biggle bought Cairo her first set of Minnie Ears and Grandpa Biggle insisted that she take her picture with Mickey. Cairo wore her ears all day. Here are a few pictures:

Cairo also chose this day to begin rolling over. At first she kept getting her arm stuck under her, but by Monday, she was a pro. She just doesn't understand the cause and effect relationship, though. Most of the time she doesn't like to be on her belly; but, she just keeps in rolling. She gets to her stomach, cries, we flip her over to her back, she rolls again, cries.... and it keeps going on. If she doesn't cry, she spends a great deal of time and effort making out with the floor. She loves to put her tongue on everything.
