Thanksgiving Week

The view out the back window
Most of Thanksgiving week this year was a complete bust!  I came down with the stomach flu on the way up in the car (yup, it was a barrel of fun).  Cairo got it the next day, followed the next day be Jonah, and then, finally, by Erik on the fourth day.  The stomach flu was immediately followed by a round of colds and sinus infections.  There is only so much you want to share with your family and friends.  So, needless to say we didn't see much of anyone and do much of anything for most of the week.

We were well enough to spend Thanksgiving day with the family at Erik's parent's house.  The next day we even made a trip up to the snow.  There wasn't a lot of snow, but there was enough to play in.  We attempted to sled in out make-shift, ghetto sled (the top of a big tupperware container), but the edges just kept digging in.  It was more work that it was worth, though we all gave it a try.

My beautiful niece!

Cairo and Mei had a good time making and throwing snowballs at each other.

If you look closely, you can see the snowball Mei threw frozen in time.
The next three pictures were done on burst mode.  I love the look on Mei's face as she flings the snowball at the unsuspecting Cairo.

Of course, Erik has to join in the fun.

Just like the sand at the beach, Jonah enjoyed digging in the snow.  I was really glad to have found those second hand gloves at the local thrift store.

After all the fun in the snow, we all enjoyed some yummy home made hot chocolate, courtesy of Erik.

The snow pants Cairo was wearing gave her quite the booty.

After a long day of play...

And at that, our trip was over.  Back to LA, back to reality.  Three more weeks until we're back.

Nana and Papa's

I have Veteran's Day off work every year.  So, this year I decided to spend it with my favorite veteran- my Papa.  We drove up on Friday- through the wind and rain- and enjoyed a fun weekend at Nana and Papas.  No visit is complete without a visit to Swing-Swing park.   Jonah and Cairo also helped out on the kitchen by making biscuits.

But, the best part of the trip was sitting on the floor reading books with Nana!  I hope they always remember how much their Nana loves them!
